Seventh & Fig (He Played a Mean Sax)

By
7th & Fig
(He Played a Mean Sax)

Unique warrior clad
in government issue fatigues
flings out notes passionate cascades
of sunshine and ocean breeze,
echoes of American Jazz
on a downtown street on a summer day,
Subway steps set stage
looking out on empty lot
natural amphitheater
towering surround
of buildings high resound
defiant, triumphant,
pain and joy expressed
shared, celebrated
as strangers Touched
pass on refreshed.
